If swim, bike, run is your thing, why not Tri Pollensa?

With beautiful weather, paradise beaches and tranquil country lanes that snake through the scenic Tramontana mountains, it is no surprise that Mallorca is a top destination for cyclists, runners and swimmers. From mini triathlons to significant international events, few European destinations offer a wide choice of sporting possibilities in such a beautiful setting, with near-perfect conditions.

Triathlon is the fastest-growing participation sport in the UK, with triathlon holidays becoming increasingly popular. Mallorca is the preferred destination choice, with Tri Camps, specialised sports hotels, professional cycle hire facilities and gear shops galore, plus plenty of superb bars and restaurants providing bike parks for that well-earned post-workout beer.

The bays of Pollensa and Alcúdia and the surrounding area make for the perfect training base, with calm waters for swim practice, fabulous promenades for breezy coastal runs and their proximity to the Tramontana mountains and the central plain make for endless cycling possibilities. Mallorca’s Ironman events are held in Alcúdia, with more than 50 participating nationalities. The event entails a swim in Alcúdia Bay, followed by a challenging cycle route involving a vigorous climb up the winding mountain road to Lluc Monastery, tackling numerous hairpin bends along the stunningly picturesque mountain roads of the Sierra Tramuntana, before heading back to the coast for a seaside run.

Sunday after race day is the perfect time to stretch your legs and visit one of the bustling fruit markets held in the old towns of Alcúdia and Pollensa, followed by some delicious local cuisine.
